Here is a great opportunity for you, your family, and/or friends to join us for our kayaking adventure on June 23, 2018, from 2pm to 6pm: " First-time kayakers and experienced paddlers alike will enjoy a unique perspective of Portland on this guided tour ( by the Portland Kayak Company ) circumnavigating Ross Island on the Willamette River. We'll paddle past an impressive blue heron rookery and possibly see bald eagles and osprey as we glide by Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. There is an unparalleled view of Portland's skyline on our way back to the dock."
It is imperative to RSVP by noon this Wednesday June 13th, so that we can secure enough kayaks for our group. Please let me know if any of you would like to 'couple-tandem' ( a two person kayak :)
We launch near Willamette Park ( from Portland Kayak Company) , and will kayak on the Willamette, which is very tranquil. We will be on the water for approximately 3 hours, especially if we choose to rest on one of the tiny center islands to have a snack before heading back.
The cost of the tour is $49 per person ( this includes life jackets, kayak skirts, and paddles)

Entertainment:
Laura Onizuka, my wonderful friend and dance/flamenco instructor will entertain us with one of her flamenco dance renditions. As promised, I will dance to the 'one minute' routine that I performed to during my competitions last month. Laura will be joining me on this unique piece, of which she has been very instrumental in choreographing.
Music and Dance: Our DJ will be happy to spin your favorite dance songs! So please send me the names and artist(s) of the songs that you would absolutely enjoy 'dancing' to. Let's dance again "like no one is watching". We will celebrate health, longevity, and happiness!

VFC Shamrock Run 2018 Registration!
My Dear Fitness Buddies,
You may now register with our team for the 2018 Shamrock Run! For those who would like to be a part of Val's Fitness Team, please register using team name 'VALFITCLUB'. You will receive an additional $4 off your registration fee if you register by midnight tonight. When you register under our team 'VALFITCLUB', your registration packages ( t-shirts, bibs, etc) will be shipped to Val's Fitness Club's address, long before package pickup to the general public.
This will be the first time for some of you but don't worry: I will assist in prepping you for the Shamrock run. When you register, just choose the distance that is most comfortable for you.
Please do not wait until the team registration deadline (January 31st) to sign up, as the Shamrock Run closes its registration as soon as it has reached its maximum participants.

Hi Fitness Buddies,
JUNE'S ACTIVITY: Our Fitness venture this month to a bike ride. Runners are also welcome, as this trail is great for running as well:
Bike trail: Banks/Vernonia Bike Trail.
Meeting Place: We will meet at Val's Fitness Club no later than 8am on Saturday, June 17th, 2017. Please contact me if you would like your bicycle transported to the club and/or to the event.
Event location: The ride will begin at the start of Banks trail head. There will be 4 different lengths on the same trail ( 14 miles, 20 miles, 25 miles, and 42 miles), so you may choose the length that you are most comfortable riding.
Cycling requirements: A bicycle
, definitely a helmet, water, and maybe a small snack for the journey. It is a very beautiful / scenic trail.

Don't worry: many of our team members are not frequent cyclists, so I have chosen an easy to moderate trail depending on the length you choose. This will be lots of fun.

VFC Barbados Excursion 2017! Dear Fitness Friends and Clients,I am happy to announce our first travel excursion for 2017: BARBADOS; and this is not to accompany me to one of my bodybuilding shows :)For those of you who have been long awaiting this trip, you may set your travel dates anytime between May 19th and May 29th.
